NEVER to be Repeated!!

February 2nd, 2010 0

Once and once only.. This week we bring you Goons, T-Rek & Grinners...

Thanks to everyone who came last week, I can't wait to see the photo's for this weeks upcomming gigs. But for now heres last weeks.

Friday - The Don of Disco MALFUNKE

Yes folks you have got it right, another Funked Up Friday is upon us with the man who never stops dancing – MALFUNKE. He is here once again to present PEEK-A-BOO; presenting your favorite indie dance and house beats through-out the night, that I’m sure will keep you movin’ and groovin’ all the way until our little friend ‘the sun’ pops its head into our lives.

SATURDAY - Goons of Doom & T-Rek

This Saturday night brings us a clash of ‘music’ titans, with a mixture that is sure to keep any person from blowing up in boredom. To start this massive line up we have local favorites GOONS OF DOOM rocking out with support from Haldane’s Daughters and The Milkshakes in the first half of the night. This leads us to our next act, with his latest track ‘Out My Bitch’ topping the ARIA Club Charts for two weeks straight now, with no sign of moving! This is of course T-REK! And he will be showcasing his massive club hit as well as the finest in grunge and club music there is, with support from the don of disco himself; Malfunke. With so many acts, there is something for the whole family.

SUNDAY - Phil Jamieson & Pat Davern GRINSPOON Acoustic Set

Countdown is nearly over ladies and gentlemen, with only 6 days left until this very, very… VERY! EXCLUSIVE, FIRST & LAST TIME ONLY PERFORMANCE!! By Grinspoon’s very own Phil Jamieson and band buddy Pat Davern; performing a very intermit acoustic set right here at Neverland. This set will be in the minds of many, with crowd favorites like ‘Chemical Romance’ and ‘Better Off Alone’ sure to grab you by the ears, with no escape from this rare, raw sound that many will never be gracious enough to ever hear, let alone step into a room where the band itself is striped back to its core. This sound is unique and is to be awarded with our presence whenever the opportunity arises, as it only ever comes once…

Never Land Bar

January 22nd, 2010 0

Never Land Bar is very congruent with its own name, the boutique space lends itself to the progressive industry of the arts giving it the upwards direction to soaring through the lame attempts by competitors to really inject culture into the community. Never Land bar has a keen inspiration to bring in the sultry mix of big name acts for DJ Sets and Band Nights.

So far this unique venue has seen some of the worlds best musicians from the deborterous “Peaches” DJ SET (USA) to the chilled “The Beautiful Girls” and to the left field sounds of “Art Vs. Science”. Other acts so far have included the famous “Tom Middleton”, “DJ Falcon”, “Bang Gang”, “Purple Sneakers”, “The Hoops”, “K.I.M. fromTHE PRESETS”, Galvatrons, The Dirty Secrets, The Delta Riggs, “Foals” DJ SET (UK), ”Howling Bells” (UK), "Crazy Penis (UK), Claude Von Stroke (USA), "Black Angus from Sneaky Sound System", "Miami Horror", "Philadelphia Grand Jury", "Whitley" and “Kid Kenobi”

The floor plan lends itself to part band room / part New York style loft, with two impacting levels, you can view DJ’s and Bands from a number of different angles with a wrap around balcony above the stage and from the downstairs dance floor with ambient lighting throughout the venue’s design keeps the focus on the acts at hand rather than fancy trimmings.

Never Land gets Crazy with Danielle from Crazy P!!!

Thanks to everyone who came last week, we had two great nights with some special visitors to the club. Thanks again to the crew from Dead Beat Band, The Beautiful Girls & The Goons of Doom for stopping by on Saturday night.

THIS FRIDAY! ZUES BABY!

Zeus Baby! has taken up where U3-GO left off, with fresh, new songs, and re-workings of the old classics. Zeus Baby! is the sound of the Gold Coast.

Supported by the purveyor of all things disco & happy house, dumroll....................................................Malfunke!!

THIS SATURDAY! ACT YO AGE!

You know the DJ has played a good set when any of the following happen; the atmosphere is so charged it feels like electricity is running through the air; the dancefloor is so packed that you’re swapping essential body fluids with fifteen strangers; somebody spills a vodka something in (not on) your brand new kicks and you don’t care, the DJ is swigging champagne straight out of the bottle mid-set; despite 10 mins of searching, you can’t find two of your crew whom are somewhere in the same room of the club as you; the place looks like a bomb went off inside; or, people are acting like a bomb went off inside. You know the DJ has killed it when ALL of the above get crossed of the list. That being said, I can officially report that the beast known as "Act Yo Age" is here to imprint lasting memories.

THIS SUNDAY! THE MEDICS!

A young energetic indie band with insightful songs wide in scope: quiet ambient sounds, epic build ups, breakdowns, light, shade, delicate and intense.

The Medics sounded like early Radiohead . . . in the best possible way.” Live Review - Beat Magazine Melbourne Oct 09

THIS COMING MONDAY! CRAZY PENIS!

Danielle the front women of Crazy Penis known as Crazy P will be taking the Mic and decks in hand this coming Monday "Australia Day Eve" get ready for our HEADLINE act of January!

The most exciting band to emerge from the British dance scene since Massive Attack.” – Lewis Dene - Album Of The Week - DMC UPDATE

More hooks than a club cloakroom...” – The Guardian

Providing a perfect panacea for the glum rock epidemic, Crazy P have once again seduced us with a record of perennial beauty ” – Album Of The Week www.bbc.co.uk/music/dance/

SUNDAY 7TH OF FEBUARY! PHIL JAMISON & PAT DAVERN LIVE ACOUSTIC SET AT NEVER LAND BAR!

In a music industry where good artists become obscured by bands who become the "in" thing, bands such as Grinspoon won't achieve the kind of notoriety they deserve. Hailing from Down Under (New South Wales to be exact), the band formed in 1995 to compete in a national music search. 1998 saw the release of Guide To Better Living in Australia, with a release in the United States the following year. An EP in 1998 was followed by another, Undercover, in 2000. They released Thrills, Kills & Sunday Pills in 2004.

Don't miss this unique once in a lifetime opportunity, never to be repeated again......

Also Coming Soon Yves Klien Blue, Mess Hall & Sundance Kids!!

Saturday 16th January

Joshua Dobbie, other wise known as “Oshi One” began his career through drumming at the young age of 15 where he toured Europe in a drum orchestra.  This experience, in combination with being introduced to dance music, inspired him to become a DJ, and later to become a distinguished producer.

Josh became a well known and well respected Psy Dj, playing a string of major gigs on the North Coast festival circuit and gaining a variety of experience. However, after three years of doing this he was introduced to the more popular world of House Music and became re inspired not only to start Djing, but also to create his own unique Style as an Electro artist, his unique sound has got him signed and now its only a matter of time before "Oshi One" is a house hold name!
